WWE Smackdown Live Full Results: January 29, 2019
Royal Rumble left a series of questions that had to be answered on Smackdown Live. Last night’s show also kicked off the storylines for the Elimination Chamber PPV event. More participants entered women’s tag team title match. There was also a celebration thrown by Shane McMahon and The Miz on the show hosted by the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
We see a video package of Royal Rumble before going live into the arena. Becky Lynch came out to a huge ovation from the crowd. She cut a promo on her Rumble win from Sunday about earning everything. Charlotte Flair’s music hit as she made her way to the ring and tried to take credits of Becky’s improvement. Becky took a punch into Charlotte’s face before leaving. The two eventually engaged in a brawl on the ramp until officials ran down.
R-Truth and Carmella appeared on Smackdown for a promo segment. Truth claimed that Nia Jax robbed him at Royal Rumble or else he would have won it. This is why WWE officials granted him a US title match against Nakamura. It was the opening contest of Smackdown Live where Truth reversed a Kinshasa it into the Lie Detector and rolled up the champ to pick up the win.
We received a new United States Champion in R-Truth. Rusev interrupted claiming that the US title deserves much better than Nakamura and R-Truth. Another US title match went underway with Rusev challenging Truth for the title. Truth reversed a running Rusev for a 3-count pinfall to retain his title. After the match, Rusev and Nakamura teamed together to beat down Truth on Smackdown.
Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe was up next on Smackdown. But the match never took place as Zelina Vega came out and talked some trash about Mysterio. Andrade attacked Mysterio from behind and hit the three Amigos made famous by the late great Eddie Guerrero. Rey countered trying for a 619 but Andrade prevailed hitting a Hammerlock DDT.
Shane McMahon and The Miz were up next to celebrate their tag team title win at Royal Rumble. They aired a video package to showcase their win before the Miz’s dad arrived. He proposed a title defense. So the champs arranged a fatal-4-way tag elimination match to crown new contenders. The Bar vs. The Usos vs. Heavy Machinery vs. The New Day was the lineup. The Usos picked up the win elimination Sheamus with a frog splash.
Daniel Bryan appeared on Smackdown Live cutting a promo about the environment. Rowan joined him showing a replica belt of WWE title. Soon Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, Mustafa Ali joined them inside the ring demanding a championship opportunity. Triple H showed up on the tron informing them that the title will be on the line at Elimination Chamber among these six participants.
