West Indies bowled fantastically well: Moeen Ali
England allrounder Moeen Ali has praised West Indies bowlers for their effort that saw the tourists being rolled over for a mere 77 in their first innings on Day 2 of the first Test in Barbados.
Right-arm pacer Kemar Roach's devastating effort that saw him take 5/17 handed West Indies a first innings lead of 212 which they had extended to 339 by the time the second day's play came to an end.
"It was a disappointing day and there are always going to be a few guys who make mistakes," Moeen after the day's play. "There are always going to be guys who played a bad shot or who took the wrong option. Even when 40-odd for four, we always think we have the batting and that someone will put their hand up. Today wasn t the day. They bowled fantastically well with good pace and managed to get us out.
When asked whether his team made a mistake by playing two spinners on a pitch that has been more conducive to the pacers, Moeen said he would have done the same, but they have to make the best use of the conditions on offer.
That s a tough question but as a player you go with what is selected you can t afford to look back. Everyone will have their opinion. I would have played two spinners looking at that pitch. But no matter what the team is, as players you have to go out there and perform, he said.
At stumps, England had done well to limit the hosts to 127/6 with Moeen inflicting the maximum damage returning figures of 3/41..
