Rafael Nadal on Thursday displayed his class as he defeated the conqueror of 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer – Stefanos Tsitsipas – on straight sets. Nadal sealed the match against Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 at the Rod Laver Arena and entered the final of Australian Open 2019 in style. In the match, Nadal’s winning shot against Tsitsipas was nothing but a piece of beauty as he executed a forehand topspin with perfection to finish the clash, which lasted for 106 minutes.

The 20-year-old Greek’s dream run was left shattered by the 17-time Grand Slam winner’s outrageous forehand and the inform Spaniard rampaged through to the finals, where he will face the winner of the second semi-final between Novak Djokovic and Lucas Pouille. Tsitsipas had entertained the tennis fraternity with his agility and tenacity, due to which he registered a win over Federer, but was left clueless by Nadal, who was appearing in his first tournament since the US Open in September.

"Is not easy to be back after four months, five months, and play the way I am playing," he said after undergoing ankle surgery in his extended off-season. "Of course, I didn't expect that at all," Nadal told reporters after demolishing Tsitsipas on his way to finals.

"I believe that when you are older, you lose less the tennis when you are playing less. "You don't need that many matches to play well. That's something that happened for the last two years for me,” Nadal added.

Whereas Tsitsipas said that he was nowhere close to taking something out of the match against Nadal, in which he bagged only six games. Tsitsipas further hailed Nadal by saying that the Spaniard’s game is completely different than other competitors.

"Honestly, I have no idea what I can take from that match, I wasn't even close to getting something. I only got six games from that match," a shattered Tsitsipas said.

"He gives you no rhythm. He plays just a different game style than the rest of the players," the 20-year-old Greek said.
