Sachin Tendulkar shares throwback pictures playing tennis as Australian Open fever hits Master Blaster
Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers all time. He has often been credited to have transformed cricket in the nation and inspired a generation of young players. The Master Blaster apart from being a cricket legend is also a huge admirer of tennis as a sport and has been often seen watching tournaments like the Australian Open and Wimbledon. His love for tennis great Roger Federer is no secret and Sachin has often termed him as an inspiration.
Remembering the golden days of his youth, Sachin on Thursday took to Twitter to share throwback pictures of himself playing tennis. The former Indian cricketer in the pictures can be spotted playing the game without any shoes as he captioned the post, “Nothing ever stopped me from playing sports. Not even when I didn’t have my shoes on.”

The Australian Open is currently underway and the tennis fever seems to have gripped the all-time highest run-getter in international cricket. On Thursday, Rafael Nadal defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 in the first men's semi-final at the Rod Laver Arena to enter his fifth Australian Open final.
Tsitsipas had a stupendous run in the Australian Open this year as he got better of Swiss ace Federer to bring an end to his campaign. The 20-year-old, however, was a no-match to Nadal, who dominated the proceedings throughout the game to wrap-up a comfortable win in 1 hour 46 minutes.
Nadal will now face the winner of the second semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Pouille. Djokovic made way to the semi-finals after his quarterfinal opponent Kei Nishikori retired midway in their clash at the Rod Laver Arena. Meanwhile, Sachin has remained associated with sports even after retiring from cricket and has helped many athletes realise their dreams through works of philanthropy.
