LeBron James injury: Latest update on Lakers star ahead of Warriors clash, will he play?
That’s after LeBron went down with a groin injury.
And in their rematch tonight, the NBA superstar is not expected to play either.
LeBron James has been cleared to return to practice but it is not thought he will be ready in time to play against the Warriors at 3.30am UK time (7.30pm PST).
And Lakers coach Luke Walton has given an update on James ahead of the match.
He said: “We came in [Sunday] and had a get-what-you-need day, so he got out here on the court, got up and down a little bit, did all our shooting, some 5-on-0, non-contact stuff.
“He went and got treatment and Rondo stayed out here and scrimmaged with some of the guys.”
Walton also explained LeBron himself will have a big role to play in deciding when he will be ready to return for the Lakers.
He added: “You like to get guys a full day of practice and whatnot, and we will.
“We’ll manipulate the practice schedule however we need to to get [James] playing against some people.
“I would imagine once he feels healthy enough to go that he’ll go.”
LeBron is set to miss his 14th game in a row tonight and the Lakers form has dropped off dramatically.
Walton’s side now sit down in ninth in the Western Conference with a 25-22 record.
In contrast, the Warriors are top with a staggering 32 wins compared to just 14 losses.
Steph Curry and Kevin Durant will look to record another victory and take advantage of LeBron’s absence this evening.
As well as James, Lonzo Ball is out for the Lakers.
The point guard will be out of action of four to six weeks with a sprained ankle.
