Manuel Pellegrini allowed his players the day off on Monday with the West Ham manager facing the tricky task of reintegrating Marko Arnautovic into the squad on Tuesday.

Arnautovic, who did not travel with the team to Bournemouth on Saturday amid concerns over his frame of mind, is expected to turn up for training at Rush Green.

The 29-year-old Austrian has made it clear he wants to move to China, where he has been offered a deal worth close to £300,000 a week.

West Ham are adamant they will not be bullied into selling, particularly when their £45million valuation has not been met and they have no replacement lined up.

Now, with Arnautovic set to stay, Pellegrini must try to bring the player back onside ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round clash with League One Wimbledon this Saturday.

After losing 2-0 to Bournemouth, Pellegrini indicated there had been problems in training as he said: 'A manager must choose the players that work better during the week.'

Missing training would result in a fine for Arnautovic, who is paid around £100,000 a week.

Club insiders yesterday said they do not think he will go on strike like Dimitri Payet did to move to Marseille for £25m in January 2017.

West Ham will revisit the topic of selling their joint-top scorer ahead of the summer, when they will stand a better chance of signing a new striker.

The club have always said Pellegrini would have had final say on Arnautovic's future if their £45m valuation was met this month.

Only a £35m bid was made, though there were also concerns over how the Chinese proposed to pay for the deal.

Sportsmail reported ahead of the Hammers' trip to Bournemouth that Arnautovic had been involved in a disagreement with club chiefs at Rush Green and would be dropped.

It is understood the former Stoke forward was not happy at being told he would not be allowed to leave, with Guangzhou Evergrande the Chinese Super League side chasing him.
